Now that you are in the U.S. as always, you never know when you will find love.  You are dating or engaged and you and your US citizen partner decide to marry.  Our office can assist you in obtaining US permanent residency based on the marriage.  The goal would be to process things while you remain in the US, so long as this is your preference.

Marrying an American while on a Tourist Visa or a Student Visa

There are many types of non immigrant travel or business visas, as well as student visas.  Some are on DACA.  Each situation is different.  It is very important that a foreigner enter the U.S. for the purpose stated.  Border agents want to hear the truth.  Visitors are only to visit, students are only to study, etc.

Students

The current pandemic presents certain challenges to those in the U.S. to study as most all schools are not currently in session.  Some may resume with an online option, but how does that affect a student who is attending on a student visa of some sort?  Is it possible for the student to remain in a valid student status?  Is it necessary to stay in school when you become engaged to a US citizen?

Covid 19 now presents additional challenges in that travel is very limited as well as dangerous and a risk you may not feel comfortable taking.  Exceptions are being made in terms of handling non immigrant visa departure dates.  But if, in the meantime, you are dating a US Citizen and the two of you decide to commit to a marriage, we can now help you work toward a green card based on marriage to the US Citizen.
